In the UK, there is a massive diversification in terms of how people gamble. Traditional bookmakers dominate high streets, and the horse racing industry commands a large audience at tracks around the country. But what is slightly more subdued, but still a popular sector, are land based casino destinations around the UK.
The number of physical casinos in the UK has fluctuated over the years, with the number reaching as high as 156 and as low as 144 premises in a decade span, according to the Gambling Commission. UK natives also have the luxury of being able to play at casino sites.
Casino culture in the UK differs from other areas. While there are similarities here and in European countries, there isn't the same attitude towards these establishments as there is in the likes of the US or Macau, with the allowance of online gambling a factor here. But Brits still enjoy a casino visit, and tens of thousands visit casino meccas - like the popular casinos in Vegas - every year, despite the long trek.
But sticking closer to home, we wanted to find out which casinos in the UK were the most 'dangerous' according to real-life customers who have stepped foot on the premises. To do this, our research and analytics teams scraped review data on each of the casinos listed above related to danger-related keywords. So, for example, reviews that had one instance of 'violent', aggressive', 'fight', 'confrontation' and other terms that could signal a more threatening environment.
For clarity, we cannot say for sure whether or not a particular casino is more dangerous than another. We're basing the results on the reviews of real-life people who have entered these casino establishments and left a review on their experience. Most casinos will employ large-scale security for your safety.
But, with that in mind, the Resorts World Casino in Birmingham was revealed to be the "most dangerous" according to reviews, with 10.71% of people mentioning danger-related keywords - or just over 14 of 140 reviews.
I had more than an incident where staff were very rude and almost got into a fight with the doorman for simply asking a question.
Resorts World Casino had by far the most mentions, more than doubling the next destination, which was the Aspers Casino in London at 4.23%.
One in particular was so enraged and pumped with aggression! was quite scary to witness for myself.
The Victoria Gate Casino in Leeds was next at 3.25%, while the Genting Casino and World Bar in Sheffield completed the top 4 with 2.78%.
The most reviewed casino on the list, the famous Hippodrome Casino in London, which has been reviewed over 1500 times on Tripadvisor, was 10th on the list, with 1.43% of reviews indicating some form of threat.
Several casinos will be happy to know they score 0% in terms of their threat level, with the Grosvenor establishments in Sunderland, Stockport, Reading South, and Southampton all proud members of the zero-percent club.
akfxoqsd.shop utilised Tripadvisor reviews to do an in-depth analysis of phrases associated with danger to determine the most 'dangerous' in the UK. We calculated the percentage of threat-rated mentions in the total Tripadvisor reviews and calculated the percentages for each establishment.
