Bingo Winner Turned Knifeman and Went on Rampage of Vandalism

Having won on bingo, most people might think about treating themselves and their family or friends to something nice, like a meal or a new outfit.

There is always an exception to the rule and that was the case for 35-year-old David Scott from Workington, who went on a rampage of vandalism, damaging several vehicles using a kitchen knife after having consumed ten pints of beer.

Scott’s mindless knife attack inflicted £2,473 worth of damage after he slashed tyres and scratched the paintwork of the vehicles. The prosecution said that Scott had actually been speaking to one of the victims whose tyres had been slashed while the victim was on the phone to the police.

Victim Recognised Scott from CCTV Footage

The victim, having checked their CCTV footage, recognised the offender as Scott because he was wearing the same outfit as the person captured on CCTV. Scott attempted to hide the fact by changing his clothes, but he had not changed his trainers when he returned outside. Scott was arrested and charged with nine charges of causing criminal damage under £5,000 and possession of a knife in a public place.

Memory Loss After Bingo Win

Scott claims he has no memory of the incident in which he damaged nine vehicles using the knife following his win on bingo. Defending solicitor Mike Pope said that Scott could not explain what had happened; however, a probation officer said that Scott had said that he remembered going to bingo and winning some cash.

Case Sent to Crown Court

The court heard that Scott had no previous convictions and no issues with neighbours. Having lived in the area for two years. It was a bizarre case of Scott taking out any issues on inanimate objects. Magistrates committed the case to Carlisle Crown Court for sentence on October 7th. Scott, of Fletcher Street, Workington, was granted bail on the condition that he is not drunk in a public place.

Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
