You know those slots that make your eyes bleed just by looking at them? Well, I’ve made a list. The very worst. Slots that should never have been created. Online abominations that make you cringe on every spin. If you’re curious (and brave) enough to discover the worst slots to waste your money on, then go ahead.
But proceed with caution. I’m not responsible for anything that happens after you experience these horrific examples…
Made by software company Eyecon, Fluffy Favourites is one of the most popular games nowadays. I have no idea why. In all fairness, it's an awful slot. The symbols look as if they’ve been penciled in by a 5-year-old. Maybe that’s the case. The background – no, I won’t talk about the background. Fluffy Favourites is an example of what a slot should not look like. It’s very bad. Perhaps the worst online slot ever created.
Just in case you are one of those people who don’t pay heed to advice and still want to play this game, please, turn the sound off. There’s a chance you’ll recover your eyesight, but I’m not sure about your hearing.
I’ll be honest. The world was a better place without this slot. It’s so bad that it’s tragic. I said that Fluffy Favourites was the worst online slot ever made. Now that I’m looking again at Diamond 777 Multiplier Retro Roller, I might have to hold that thought. What did Games Global aim to achieve with this slot? It’s a retro-style game, I get that. But does it offer anything new to players? There are hundreds of retro slots out there that are far better than this one. Even NetEnt’s Mega Joker looks better (and that’s one of the worst slot designs in the known universe).
My advice is, don’t play this game. I know you’ll want to have a look for yourselves, but I cannot NOT warn you.
By the way. This is not the only Retro Roller slot created by Games Global. In fact, the developer has a series called Retro Roller. They are all horrific.
I was sure the developer created the first Hot to Burn slot as a joke. But then Pragmatic Play created a sequel. The joke didn’t get any better. And it still wasn’t enough. The third installment of the Hot to Burn slot series is called Hot to Burn Multiplier. At least, Pragmatic Play is consistent. All three slots in the series share the same horrific design. Hot To Burn Multiplier is a terrible fruit slot that players should only play as part of a penance.
At its bare minimum, this is a basic 3x5 slot. There’s no bonus round, and Hot to Burn Multiplier comes with a high volatility setting.
Despite the obvious effort they put in the design, Fa Fa Babies is probably one of the weakest slot games made by Red Tiger. And perhaps that’s the problem with this game - the award-winning software developer tried too hard. The 5x3 set of reels is flanked by two floating babies, each one holding a golden fish. Look at the babies for more than a minute, take deep, long breaths, and they’ll hypnotize you. At the top of the reels, there are four jackpot prizes - the values change according to your bet size. Apart from this, the game is pretty simple.
One wasn’t enough. We had to have a sequel. When I first heard there would be Fa Fa Babies 2, I thought to myself, the game creator realized the damage they’ve done to the online gambling world. They are going to make amends. But no. They managed to do something more terrible than the original. They brought back the terrible hypnotizing babies.
NetEnt. You hear NetEnt and think that one of the biggest names in the industry creates only the best games. But then you come across 101 Candies. It represents everything that's bad with NetEnt slots nowadays. The gameplay is that lil’ bit off. The mechanics are the same as many other slots. There’s a lack of innovation and creativity that is evident in many of NetEnt’s latest releases. Visually, it’s not a complete disaster, at least. And it has a decent 96.08% RTP and medium volatility. But this is not a slot I would want to play unless I’m threatened.
NetEnt have Gonzo. Pragmatic Play have John Hunter. Play’n GO have, among others, Hugo. I don’t like Hugo. The games themselves (there’s a lot of them) are not half bad. Until Hugo appears and speaks. He makes the series terrible to behold. When I was playing these games, I was praying that he wouldn’t show up. I hit spin with trembling fingers, terrorized at the prospect. Hugo is a fairly unknown little character. But for those in Scandinavia, the little troll is featured heavily in video games and popular culture.
Hugo the Screen-Troll was born in 1990. This children’s character was created by the Danish company Interactive Television Entertainment. It is based around the fictional character of Hugo, a friendly, small Scandinavian folklore troll engaged in a conflict against a wicked witch, often to save his family. His adventure into the world of online slots began when Play’n GO secured rights to the character. I wish they hadn’t.
I'll stop there. That's all I can take in one session. I understand that without bad slots, we wouldn't appreciate the thousands of awesome online slots that have been released to date.
In the meantime, the comments section below is open. Tell me what you think about these games or any others you think deserve a mention on this page. I’m sure I’ve only scratched the surface here.
