Real-Life ‘The Hangover’ Scene Plays Out in Atlantic City Casino

In a shocking incident that has come to light over the last 48 hours, a New Jersey casino resembled a scene from the hit movie 'The Hangover' after a baby was found abandoned in hotel room.

Unlike the scene in 'The Hangover,' however, where there were actual adults in the room, this troubling incident revealed the infant to be left completely alone in a hotel room in Bally’s Atlantic City on August 30. An immediate police intervention was prompted upon the discovery.

Housekeeper Discovered Abandoned Baby

A housekeeper, responding to a call for extra towels and toiletries, entered the couple's room, only to find their infant sleeping in a crib, unattended. Authorities were alerted, leading to the swift arrival of police officers, who found the father present in the room in possession of a firearm.

The couple, identified only by the initials J.C. for the 33-year-old father from North Carolina, has been charged with second-degree child endangerment.

This incident raises serious questions about parental responsibility, particularly as reports indicate that the parents had left their baby behind to engage in gambling activities.

Child Protection Agency Return Mother and Baby Home

Child protective services quickly became involved, ensuring the safety of the child. Reports confirm that both the mother and the baby have since returned to their home in North Carolina. Meanwhile, the father faces not only child endangerment charges but also gun-related offenses, as authorities take the necessary steps to address this serious breach of duty.

This incident follows a series of troubling events at casinos, highlighting a disturbing pattern of adults leaving minors unattended in potentially dangerous situations. Recently, a woman was reported for leaving four minors—ages 3, 6, 7, and 10—in a running vehicle for 25 minutes while she visited the gaming area at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack.

Similarly, another patron at Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia was cited for leaving two children aged 12 and 13 in a running vehicle in 87-degree weather for over half an hour.

Father Due to Appear in Court

As the legal proceedings unfold, the father has been released but is scheduled to appear in court on October 21. Penalties for leaving children unattended vary by state, with potential consequences ranging from bans from casino properties to imprisonment.

The case has drawn attention to the critical need for vigilance regarding child safety, especially in environments where gambling and alcohol may impair judgment.

I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
