The Louisiana Gaming Control Board has released the casino revenues figures for July 2024, revealing that the state collected $155,782,981 across riverboat and land-based casinos. Total revenues declined by 5.1 percent compared to July 2023, when total revenues for Louisiana casinos were $164,107,273.

Most Riverboat Casino Revenues Drop

Riverboat casino revenues dropped by 6.19 percent year-on-year, recorded at $138,079,530 in July 2024. Unsurprisingly, most casinos saw revenues fall compared to July 2023, although there are a few exceptions to the rule.

The biggest change in revenues came from Belle of Baton Rouge, which collected only $482,370 in July 2024 compared to $1,203,264 in July 2023, marking a drop of almost 60 percent.

The casino that experienced the largest revenue decline during July was L’Auberge Lake Charles, which brought in $23,235,797, accounting for 16.8 percent of LA casino revenues in July 2024. However, this was a 14.3 percent drop year-on-year and posted nearly $4 million less, accounting for more than 45 percent of the state’s drop in revenues.

While many Louisiana casinos saw revenues decrease, a handful of casinos in the state posted significant year-on-year growth. Only four casinos posted better numbers in July 2024 than in July 2023, with Bally’s Shreveport seeing the smallest increase of a nominal 0.1 percent. Horseshoe Lake Charles saw gains of 3 percent year-on-year.

Treasure Chest posted revenue increases of more than 76 percent, bringing in more than $5 million extra year-on-year. Meanwhile, The Queen of Baton Rouge posted a nearly 88 percent revenue increase.

Harrah’s New Orleans Bucks the Trend

There is only one land-based casino in Louisiana: Harrah’s New Orleans. While most riverboat casinos in LA posted fewer revenues in July 2024 compared to July 2023, the Pelican State’s only land-based casino outperformed its 2023 revenue total.

Harrah’s collected $17,475,647 in July 2023 compared to $17,703,451 in 2024, a 1.3 percent increase. That’s despite a drop in admissions year-on-year from 209,048 to 185,038.
