Casino games can come with many descriptive words: action-packed, dramatic, thrilling, immersive, and even utter shhh****. But never, ever in all my years of making somewhat passable slot reviews have I ever come across an online slot that was so… suave.
Ladies and gentlemen, I warn you, this is one seductively crafted game that defines opulence and oozes grandiosity. If this game were in physical form, it would have the touch of soft velvet and the assuredness of gold, along with the clarity of a diamond. What am I talking about? I haven’t got a god-damn clue, but right now, the smooth jazz and funky rhythmic undertones have seduced me into a trance-like state since loading the game from my preferred online casino.
I warn you, too much of a good thing is dangerous, but never-ending pleasures can lead to a euphoric state of the likes no human can return. This is your warning, dear readers. Stepping Diamonds by Play’n GO is the smoothest game ever made, and you may not return to reality ever again, having slipped into sheer delight.
Anyway, this review covers the software, design, bonuses, and special features, oh, and there’s a free demo you can play with any Android or iOS mobile. Now, on with the review.
The Stepping Diamonds casino game by Play’n GO is a return to the more old-school design of slots that gave it the nickname of Fruit Machines back in the day. With a classic layout of three rows and five reels, Stepping Diamonds will have many fans of the nostalgic years licking their lips slowly while rubbing their knees in a perverse desire to see the slot in action.
Hidden are the twenty paylines, but what is noticeable is that Stepping Diamonds comes with four winnable jackpots: Grand, Major, Minor, and Mini. There is also a Steps Counter central to the game, with eight diamond markers beneath it. More on this to come.
While the experience was somewhat dull, there is something about this game that will have me returning.
You may want to start by slipping into a freshly dry-cleaned suit or that dress you’ve kept for special occasions. The same goes for any ladies reading this review. When you have found the game within any of the top casinos online, load it and immediately set the bet value by using the + or – buttons on the control panel. Bet prices start at $0.10 per spin and climb through various amounts to a max bet of $50.
With your bet selected, gaming can begin by pressing the Spin button. The action will cause the reels to rotate, and to win from this, you need three or more of the same symbols to land on any one of the twenty paylines. The symbols consist of Wilds, 7s, BAR, bells, horseshoes, plums, oranges, lemons, and cherries. The more you match across the paylines, the more money you will win.
The basics of play require you to repeatedly press the spin button. In turn, you will do your best to summon any ounce of luck from the surrounding ether and hope that any of the many symbols fall into place. But that’s just the basics. With Stepping Diamonds, there is more to this game that can help you win more money.
Step ‘N Win: Central to the slot above the reels is the Steps Counter. Each time you spin the reels, the counter’s number will change, landing on a value between 1 and 5. But before this happens, you must land the Diamond symbols, which activates the Step ‘n Win feature. The value in the Counter is a multiplier value that increases the worth of the Diamond symbol. The result of triggering this feature can cause a payout of 4,000 times your bet.
Lock ‘N Spin: Below the Spin Counter are eight diamond markers. Highlight the markers by landing Diamond symbols. The purpose of this feature is to expand the size of the game’s layout on which the bonus game plays. The more diamonds you land, the greater the expansion. Going from 5x3 to a slot that is 5x5. Also, the Lock ‘n Spin feature can be activated by the Step ‘n Win feature.
The Lock ‘n Spin game begins with three respins, which will reset with each Diamond symbol you land. These symbols carry various multiplier values to help increase the winning payout. Ideally, the end game is to fill the entire grid with Diamonds. If you do this, you will get a Steps Counter locked on five steps.
Cash Pot Diamonds: You can only win jackpots during Lock ‘n Spin. The Mini jackpot starts at 20x your bet. Minor starts at 50x your bet. The Major jackpot is 100x your bet, and the Grand jackpot is 500x. The values can increase during the game, with the Grand reaching a max of 1,500x your bet value.
Unfortunately, no bonus buy feature appears in this online slot.
Play’n GO had made far more good casino games than bad, so I took on Stepping Diamonds with a respectful $2 bet value per spin. I also played the game in its auto spins mode, leaving my hands free to feast on the greasy bucket of chicken that had been burning a hole in my lap.
My first win of $2 landed on spin five. The game started very slowly, which I had expected, but I thought it would pick up once I reached twenty-odd spins. Soon, I landed several Diamond symbols, and the game expanded to a 5x4 grid, but nothing came of this. I hit my biggest win of $13 a few spins later. As I reached twenty spins, the frequency of wins picked up, as expected. Just as the wins began to increase and more Diamonds started to land, the game ended. I played fifty spins and frankly failed miserably. Still, despite this disappointment, Stepping Diamonds was a game I would revisit.
The Stepping Diamonds slot by Play’n GO has a medium volatility setting and holds a 96.20% RTP rating. The maximum you can win from this game is 4,000 times the value of your bet. If you bet $50 per spin, that’s a jackpot payout of $200,000.
While the experience was somewhat dull, there is something about this game that will have me returning. It has its flaws, like a lack of features, a small jackpot, and very little intense action. However, it’s sleek, has great music, comes with medium volatility, and is good value for money with a max $50 bet per spin.
