Once upon a time, the software developer Novomatic released a game called Sizzling Hot in 2003. Later on, Novomatic’s subsidiary company Greentube took the original Sizzling Hot slot and made it bigger and better. 

Sizzling Hot Deluxe by Greentube was a casino slot that was made as an homage to classic slot machines known as fruit machines at the time. This game is a nostalgic look of a nostalgic look now, and despite the simplistic appearance, how does the game fair by today’s standards?

The card game asks you to guess the suit of the card. Is it Red or Black? If your guess is incorrect, you will lose the full amount you won. If you win, you can collect the awarded increase, or you can continue to gamble. The Gamble feature ends when you incorrectly guess the card color. 

Now, I have played this slot game before, so to see this again so many years later is nice to see. I play the game with my bets set to $2, and I opt to play Sizzling Hot Deluxe in its Autoplay mode. Unlike modern slot games, this autoplay feature doesn’t come with a pre-selected number of auto spins to pick from. When you play in auto mode, the button is essentially an on/off function. 

As soon as the game starts, the days of old come flooding back. The sounds used in this game are so very 90s, with its old-style gaming sounds, much like stepping into an arcade filled with whizzes, blurps, pops, zoops, and other old electric sounds. Yep, I’m glad gaming evolved so very quickly.

With ten spins played so far, I have failed to land a single win. As I stare at the slot, seemingly waiting for my life to end quicker than this game, I get my first win some twenty spins into play. The return of this triumphant feat is a whopping $0.80. Now, despite earning such massive sums, I do not quit to cash out or risk gambling and continue to play. 

The next win comes in five spins later and with this only being $0.20, I muster the courage to select the Gamble option and guess the card is black. I fail and lose my $0.20 win. It’s at this point I call timeout and end the experience of playing Sizzling Hot Deluxe for real money.
