Dragonz 2 is one of the latest creations from Hammertime, a small studio working under Games Global. The fans of the first Dragonz slot had to wait more than eight years for this sequel, and we’re here to find out how the new game measures up to the original and whether it was worth the wait.
The main characteristics of the Dragonz 2 slot are its four unique free spins features, four fixed jackpots going up to 1,500x, and a mind-boggling max prize potential reaching 15,000x.

Dragonz 2 by Games Global introduces four cute dragons named Gobble, Frost, Switch, and Flint. These characters appear as base game symbols, while also representing the four jackpots and the four special free spins features.
The game is laid out across five reels and three rows, producing 243 ways to win with the rolling reels feature (same as the avalanche or tumbling reels feature). Aside from the dragons, the symbols include three landscapes and five differently colored gems. There are also wilds and scatters — the wilds that contribute to wins can turn into multipliers up to 6x.
As for the theme, the game seems to draw inspiration from the 2010 animated film How to Train Your Dragon, featuring cartoonish dragon characters and a backdrop of a picturesque mountain valley. Although it’s a 2024 game, Dragonz 2 did not particularly impress me with its graphics and sound design. The animations look a bit dated, and the soundtrack is generic at best.
If it were a decade-old game, I would have given it a pass, but I simply expect more from a 2024 release.
The game’s main control panel is on the right-hand side. Above the big red spin button, you’ll find the turbo spin switch and the autoplay button, through which you can set between 10 and 100 automated spins per session. The button below opens the betting menu, where you can set your stake from $0.20 to $20 per spin, and below that is the game’s main menu containing the settings and the paytable.
The sound on/off switch is in the bottom left. Next to it are the game’s video tutorials and a list of top and recent wins. Lastly, there’s the BUY button that you can use to force-trigger the free spins round for 100x your stake.
Dragonz 2 has several bonus features, starting with Wildstorm. Whenever this symbol appears on reels 2 and 4, it may turn up to five reels into wilds and upgrade the Wildstorm Multiplier up to 3x.
You’ll also notice that each of the dragon characters on the left of the reels has a jackpot value assigned to it. This value can increase once a corresponding character gem appears on the reels. The jackpots may then be rewarded in the jackpot wheel game that triggers randomly once you collect one of the character gems. Flint awards the biggest jackpot, reaching up to 1,500x your stake.
Finally, there’s the free spins game that triggers once 3, 4, or 5 scatters appear anywhere on the reels. You will win 12 free spins and choose one of the following functions:
Landing three or more scatters during the free spins will add three more free spins to the count.
I played the Dragonz 2 slot for real money for about 30 minutes, and even though I ended up losing, I still had fun exploring the game’s many features.
I started with around $200 in the bank, betting $3 per spin. The first few dozen spins were fairly uneventful, with occasional mid-sized wins and character gems that were increasing the jackpot prizes but didn’t seem to trigger the jackpot wheel.
Ten minutes in, I lost about $60, and my patience was wearing thin, as I wasn’t getting the free spins game or any of the other features to trigger. This is when I decided to lower my stake to $1 and purchase the bonus round for $100. I opted for the Frost free spins with locking wilds, as it seemed like the most beneficial feature of the game. The move paid off handsomely, and I netted $131. I decided to buy the feature again, this time with the Flint character and random mystery symbols, but I only broke even.
After that, I played some more, trying to trigger one of the jackpots, but it wasn’t my lucky day, and I decided to quit before losing any more money.
Dragonz 2 has a return-to-player of 96.30%, which is a figure that remains consistent with or without the bonus buy feature. The game comes with high volatility and boasts a top prize of 15,000x — way above average for a Games Global slot.
My feelings about the Dragonz 2 slot are kind of mixed. On the one hand, I like that it has four distinct free spins games and lets you choose which one you want to play. There are also a couple of base game features to keep things interesting while you’re waiting for the free spins or one of the jackpots to pop. Plus, the 15,000x max win is reason enough to try your luck on this release.
On the other hand, the game’s graphics and music didn’t cut it for me, as the animations are choppy, and the soundtrack is bland. If it were a decade-old game, I would have given it a pass, but I simply expect more from a 2024 release.
Of course, this is only my opinion, so I urge you to play the Dragonz 2 demo on this page and decide for yourself whether this is the game you’d like to try for real money at one of our recommended online casinos.
If you like this particular theme, I suggest that you try Dragon Gold 88 or Area Link Dragon. And if big jackpots are what you’re after, you can’t go wrong with Mega Moolah.
