Candy Elves is a candy and elf-themed slot by Crazy Tooth Studio and Games Global. The slot uses the Big BuildUp mechanics and has Wonka’s little helpers in the lead role. You’ll help them produce all kinds of candies for the children of the world, spinning them across 95 paylines to help create exciting wins.
Candy and sweets-themed slots are all the rage, and Games Global now has a horse in that race. This one has all kinds of candies created by the elves, and these sugary treats in all colors are simply delightful to eat. By “eat,” I mean complete winning combinations on the grid that can lead you to the ultimate prize.
The slot uses a standard math model with 95 lines with some interesting new features. The candy is spread on a 4x5 board and obviously set in a factory, at least inspired by Willy Wonka. To learn more about the sweets on these reels, read my Candy Elves review below.
As expected, the graphics are cute and crystal clear, so expect all kinds of sweets and candies in different shapes and sizes. Oh, and from time to time, one of the elves will pop up from the bottom of the screen and scream or whistle. Well done, Crazy Tooth Studio.
The slot’s theme is all about sweets and might get your sweet tooth acting all up. What makes it distinct from other slots of its kind are the elves, which can activate features by shooting them with items. When you see it for the first time, it's a very funny sequence, so the design gets a big A+.
Candy Elves is not your typical sweet-themed slot. You have magical elves that activate various features, which makes the slot more than worth your while.
Choose a bet from 15c to $30 per spin to start playing Candy Elves. The action begins when you click on the spin button. You need three or more symbols to match on the grid for a win. Wilds can step in to complete winning combinations. They substitute for all symbols except for the bonus symbols and the activation symbols, which are represented by the elves’ hats.
Wild multipliers may also land, but they’re only available in the Candy Elves feature. There are four differently-colored chef hats. They’re the elves’ hats and also play the role of activation symbols. In short, they activate some of the slot’s features as long as there’s a special symbol to activate. They only land on reels 2 and 3.
Build-up symbols are also in play. They don’t pay, but they can boost your wins in many ways. For example, you can expect added wilds, wild multipliers, and blue and red prizes. These symbols are only available in the base game, and they increase the feature awards along the sides of the gameboard. Landing one or more activation symbols may trigger the Candy Elves feature, which activates one of the awards in jars along the board.
Most of the rewards are self-explanatory except for the blue and red awards. The blue reward pays 3x-40x, while the red pays 10x to 200x.
Land two scatters anywhere on the board to trigger the Candy Elves bonus round. The grid will now only hold credit values and bonus symbols. The credit values pay between 0.12x and 4x. Special bonus symbols include retriggers, credit boost symbols, row and column symbols, and orthogonal symbols.
You start the bonus round with five spins. On each spin, wild multipliers are added to the grid. They can boost credit values. Retriggers add more spins to your tally, while credit boosts the cash prize values.
Row and column symbols activate multipliers on the respective rows and columns. Orthogonal symbols work similarly, boosting prizes left, right, top, and bottom.
You’ll have to be lucky to trigger the bonus round, as there’s no bonus buy option.
Candy Elves us a hilarious slot to play. I started playing with $1.05, which led to some nice activating symbol wins in the first few spins. It was a wild boost that paid 5x as I only managed to land low-paying matching symbols. The other activators can trigger different prizes, but I wasn’t lucky enough to trigger them.
Getting to the bonus round was not easy. It took maybe over 50 spins. It paid off as I won 75x in the end thanks to (mainly) orthogonal symbols that proved a hit.
Candy Elves is a highly volatile slot game with an RTP of 96.17%. The maximum win you can hit is over 7,000x the bet.
Candy Elves is not your typical sweet-themed slot. You have magical elves that activate various features, which makes the slot more than worth your while. It can pay nicely, too, so it’s not just another cheesecake of a slot game.
If you’re looking for alternatives, you must try your luck on Pragmatic Play’s epic Sweet Bonanza. It’s the one candy slot to rule them all, with much higher winning potential than Candy Elves and just as exciting features.
