Did you know that August 16 is National Tell-A-Joke Day? Neither did we. Apparently, Tell-A-Joke Day has been celebrated worldwide for centuries, ever since jokes became a thing. According to Reuters, the world's oldest joke can be officially traced back to 1900 BC, when toilet humour was the gag of choice for Sumerians, who lived in what is now southern Iraq.
We can't say whether it was always celebrated on August 16th, we suspect not. However, it is now, and it's the perfect excuse to dig out an old wisecrack and share it with friends, family, and colleagues. And that's where we came in. The akfxoqsd.shop team saw that National Tell A Joke Day was coming up and decided it was our duty to find or come up with the funniest casino/gambling jokes.
We took a short break from reviewing casino sites and decided we wanted to find out what each Canadian province or territory's favourite joke type was, to see just how much this differentiated in different areas.
Selfishly, we also wanted to find out if any province/territory in particular prefers casino or gambling jokes more than any other (spoiler alert, they don’t).
After scouring Google Trends and search volume data for the last 12 months, we could see what type of jokes the nation searches for more than any other. Similarly, we collected individual data bespoke to each province to find out what each province or territory's favourite joke type was. Below are the results!
Drumroll please...
The practical joke emerged as the nation's favourite joke overall when it came to Google Trends results. The practical joke was also the favourite wisecrack for a number of areas, including the Northwest Territories and Yukon.
The 'Yo-Mama' gag also proved popular among Canadians, ranking second overall, with Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia natives choosing this as their top joke. Alberta, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Quebec all have this category of banter in their top three favourite jokes.
One-line jokes were the third most popular overall and featured heavily throughout the province and territory's top three lists. They were Newfoundland and Labrador's #1 choice, but they also featured in the top three for British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
New Brunswickians need to get their minds out of the gutter; according to the data, their favourite type of joke was a sex joke. Shame on you, herringchokers.
Among others with a propensity for immaturity were Ontario, who are fans of flatulence humour - albeit third on their list of favourite gags—alongside dry humour and riddle jokes. Newfoundland and Labrador are also fans of dirty jokes.
Manitoba natives are inclined to make fun of blondes, according to the research, while Alberta was the only area to have bar jokes in their top three. Dry humour was the number one type of joke in the Energy Province.
Okay, since not a single area in Canada has a preference for casino or gambling jokes, we need to do something to try and change that.
Yes, these really are the funniest casino or gambling jokes we could find or think of. But hey, if Canadians don’t like casino jokes anyway, we're likely wasting our time.

We used Google Trends to measure the level of interest in 23 of the nation's favourite jokes over the last 12 months.
When an area had equal levels of interest in multiple jokes, search volumes for each category using Semrush were measured in that area to determine a favourite.
